In June 2025, aspirations of a financial bailout for the elderly were shattered. Numerous people anticipated an increment of their grant per month, but the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed otherwise.
Despite the increasing cost of living, SASSA has officially ruled out an increase in payment. The old-age grants as they are currently will continue unabated up to June, holding at R2,310 and R2,330 respectively.
Confirmed Grant Amounts for June 2025
SASSA explained that no extra money would be added to the grants for the elderly from the old-age pension grant for June. Seniors who meet the regular criteria will still receive R2,010 or R2,330 according to their age and individual situation. This announcement settles any rumors or anticipation of higher payoffs.
Government’s Position Remains Firm
The agency has also made no mention of reviewing or adjusting the grant levels this month. Rather, the payment system will continue on the basis of what was established in previous periods during the year. This can be worrying for older citizens who were expecting an increase to address inflationary needs.
Increasing Expenses, Flat Grants
Even while daily necessities are increasing in price, the social grants for seniors are idle. The same amount might pose a problem for most seniors who are counting on just these remittances. With no June adjustment announced, fiscal strain is likely to persist for grant recipients.
