After reading as much as there was to read about the Taniwha, I decided to head for New Zealand, meet the man (Rob Metz) and ride the bike. First time I pointed the bike down was like a revelation. The main advantage of the whole setup is definitely for me the way the rear end works. Way better than anything I tried so far and I tried a few. Removing the cassette and derailleur weight from the rear wheel is changing everything regarding how the suspension reacts on small and big bumps, how it pumps and grips. For the first time I felt that my fork was really not setup properly and get pushed by the back end. But hey, I’m just and average rider. So I brought back the bike in South Africa with something in the back of my mind. And here comes James, a proper rider, especially compared to me. The way he reacted to the first rides convinced us to team up and import this kiwi toy so you guys can enjoy it as much as we do ! Plain and simple !
